Paul Galpin has joined Argyll as Head of Insurance Services. He will be responsible for delivering Argyll’s analysis in relation to insurance transactions, in particular financial strength assessments of insurers for scheme buy-ins and buyouts.
Paul has over 40 years’ specialist experience of Insurance, Reinsurance and Financial Institutions. He was Director of Insurance Solutions at ING Bank for 18 years and previously a Director of Insurance Rating Services, Europe at Standard & Poor’s. During his time working alongside the insurance industry he has engaged with clients to develop capital optimisation and other financing structures, implement a variety of risk transfer solutions and provide ratings advisory support.
He is skilled in analysing complex financial structures and communicating the key features to clients. Together with extensive experience of the UK and European long-term insurance markets, he has a considerable knowledge of insurers’ asset structures and asset/liability management strategies, as well as insurance accounting and regulation, including Solvency II.
